Small Business – Credit Card Agreement: Better for Small Businesses Than Durbin-Marshall

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The new Small Business – Credit Card Agreement demonstrates that the private sector has already delivered a market-based solution to reduce costs for merchants, making new government mandates like the Durbin-Marshall Credit Card Mandates unnecessary.

The agreement, which was recently granted preliminary approval, is expected to provide more than $200 billion in relief. A federal judge has already called the settlement “fair, reasonable, and adequate,” and more than 12 million merchants are expected to benefit from the agreement just 90 days following its final approval. The document below outlines the key provisions of the agreement.
