EPC Welcomes Richard Hunt as Executive Chairman

| Electronic Payments Coalition

WASHINGTON, DC –The Electronic Payments Coalition (EPC) today announced Richard Hunt, former President and CEO of the Consumer Bankers Association, is joining as its first Executive Chairman. A seasoned industry veteran, Hunt led CBA for nearly 14 years, building the organization while leading its members through an unprecedented regulatory environment and an extraordinary era of technological change.

Hunt takes the reins as EPC continues to expand its advocacy for commonsense policies that ensure American consumers and merchants have access to a secure and reliable payment system.

“I am excited to lead EPC through this pivotal time that will determine the future of our nation’s payments ecosystem,” said Hunt. “I’ve seen firsthand how flawed policies like the 2010 Durbin Amendment can undermine security, raise costs for consumers and harm small businesses, all while benefiting big-box retailers. I’m passionate about making sure Congress doesn’t make that same mistake again.”

“Richard is a renowned expert in the financial services industry, with a wealth of knowledge and extensive experience navigating difficult policy fights in Congress,” said Jeff Tassey, Chairman of the EPC Board. “We are thrilled he has come on board to lead our team.”
