WASHINGTON, D.C. — Electronic Payments Coalition Executive Chairman Richard Hunt issued the following statement after the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois formally entered its latest permanent injunction for national banks, federal credit unions, out-of-state state-chartered banks, card networks and processors in the challenge to Illinois’ Credit Card Chaos Law:
“This latest action closes out another losing inning for the corporate mega-stores and Illinois’ Credit Card Chaos Law.
“The only question now is whether the nation’s largest national retail chains, in their pursuit of even greater profits, will continue lobbying state legislators to impose mandates on their own community banks and state-chartered credit unions, bringing credit card chaos and confusion to small businesses and consumers in their own states.”
