Viewpoint: Debit card fee legislation must be delayed

| Muskegon Chronicle

“Government should not choose winners and losers in the marketplace. The Durbin amendment to last year’s Wall Street reform legislation does just that, and must be delayed, studied and fixed. The amendment was passed quickly without any hearings. If it goes into effect in July, $20 billion per year will be passed to retailers. Good for them, but bad for consumers.”– John Rupert, CEO of Muskegon Co-op Federal Credit Union
